I don't even think they'd bother with changing HDD's, Technika 2 might just come on discs (if you look closely at the machine features, it says it uses disk install). I thought all game upgrades where the hardware stays the same, they'd just wipe the HDD, install the new stuff, and swap out the marquees. Or the new software installs over and keeps old songs (I think Bemani games do this?)

seems like ddr - a USB port for us to insert our custom charts in .

a handful of popular customs will be uploaded into their server weekly , so that every PC machine will be able to play that chart for the week . it wouldnt be recorded as high score though , cuz it would be pretty madness for the trackers .

It shouldn't be recorded at all.
It's like some songs that we don't even know about etc.
Or you can put up some classical songs.

nah , we will only use songs that are available in the game itself .

inputting our own songs would result in crashes .

so far, our lucky guesses are

1. new notes
2. 2 to 3 players gameplay options per game
3. obviously new songs
4. custom note charts

Is everybody up to remixed songs? 'cause Pump it Up has this "Special Zone" for all the remixes. Not only to one song but also combining 3 songs. Hmmmm I wonder how Son of Sun, I Want you & The Clear Blue Sky would sound? :p

Also, in that "Special Zone" are the full versions of the songs. Care to play djmax technika for 3-4 minutes straight? XD

New versions usually come on HDDs that just have to be swapped out. A couple require complete PCB replacement or upgrade via disc. A lot depends on whether the hardware has to change (eg DDR has recently). Keep in mind that a disc can only hold so much data, in a lot of cases it's easier to swap a HDD as no old information is required for the new version. Minor upgrades for Technika are USB loaded (or probably disc if larger size was required).

Okay, back to thread. I was thinking throughout class one day that Tech2 *might* have a circular screen where the notes move clockwise for seamless play instead of rectangle-like movement.
Well, website did say something about 'a new challenge' right?

I sorta think that vid is just "youtube playing" like what everyone does when they're not in the vicinity of a machine but want to practice. Really, what netbooks have touch-screens anyway?

Ehh, circular technika seems hard to play, its hard to judge timing when everything in the middle is closely packed and slow while everything outside is fast and wide-spaced.
